Say I make jewelry, and I want more than to give the family, as I have done for years, been there. What are some of the best ways to get a little attention?

Try auctions online such as eBay, alsol ocal fairs and fests where you may be able to set up a booth, you can try organizing jewelry parties (like the Tupperware parties.) Leave flyers in your local grocery stores etc.

Beyond ebay and the other obvious answers, you can also sell it on Amazon as well. There are also other online marketplaces where you can place your items in virtual consignment, as it were. There are also a huge number of auction places beyond eBay. There’s Auctions.com, Yahoo auctions, there’s auctions for Christians, auctions for Pagans, auctions for collectors of every kind. Google ‘auctions’. You’ll see what I mean.

Another way to get attention is to blog about it. Get yourself an eBay or Yahoo Auctions account and then create a blog account and link the two. Visit other people’s blogs and start chatting and commenting. Go to forums about what you craft and start answering questions and if the moderators will allow, promote yourself shamelessly. Keep at it and be tenacious. Eventually, you will be able to afford your own website and you can go from there.

A more traditional way is to start attending shows as a seller. Start with smaller non-juried shows and work your way up. There is an entire market structure for wholesale crafters available. There are craft associations you can join. Go here. http://www.craftassoc.com/sbmkt.html. There may be local craft associations in your city, county or state you can join. You will need at least a resale license. Check with your state dept of Taxation.
